Who are the Greenville Humane Society?
The Greenville Humane Society is one of the largest and oldest no-kill shelters in the East Coast, having been around since the 1930’s! We are one of the largest and cheapest spay/neuter clinics in South Carolina, making taking care of your pets more accessible! In 2024 alone, we have helped 4,000 dogs and cats find their forever homes (including those with special needs), performed over 13,000 spay and neuter surgeries, we have administered nearly 86,000 vaccines, we have treated over 2,400 animals in our Healing Place, and we had over 37,000 volunteer hours donated. It is our goal to help as many animals as possible and make sure they go to loving homes where they can live out the rest of their lives playing with their humans and having a family of their own.

At the Greenville Humane Society, we love and care for each pet as if they were our own. We work hard every day to provide homeless pets with more than just the basics of food and shelter—our pets receive daily enrichment, loving attention, and medical care. Beyond adoption, we offer a wide variety of preventative services like vaccinations and spay/neuter to make proper pet care affordable for our community so that all pets can be pets for life.
How Do We Do It?
Lots of hard work, passion, and support from the community and people just like you. We receive no government funding and operate solely on donations. Our community’s generosity has allowed us to find loving forever homes for thousands of homeless pets. We proudly operate one of the largest low-cost spay/neuter clinics in South Carolina, and we offer a variety of vaccinations and other preventive products and services to keep our pets healthy.
